About the Inn

The Inn includes the main house, a guest house and a pool-side cottage.  Each of the six guest rooms is large and comfortably appointed with a sitting area and private bath, heat and air conditioning, cable TV and a private phone for those who wish to stay connected.  We offer a complimentary breakfast in our dining room between 8:15 and 9:30 am.  Please advise us if you have any special dietary requirements.  For your dining pleasure, we serve dinner between 6:00 and 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.  We do host private parties from time to time and therefore suggest that you request dinner reservations when booking your room.  There is much to see in the charming town of Tryon; theater, arts and crafts, antiques and history abound.  Hiking, golf and horseback riding, and river rafting are nearby.  Tryon is surrounded by other historic towns with much to offer the visitor!

Come Relax

Three miles from Tryon town-center, the Stone Hedge Inn is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The Inn includes the main house, a guest house and a little stone cottage, all surrounded by acres of rolling meadows and woods with mountain views.  There are 26 acres to wander on and a picnic patio and a swimming pool to enjoy.

Azalea Room

This stately room with windows facing north and east gathers the morning light and offers you views of Tryon Peak and White Oak Mountain.  A king-size four-poster Rice bed is featured with an antique bureau and Grandpa’s old Victrola as accents.  The sculptured ceiling with a paddle fan, crystal lamps and a grapevine tapestry Victorian settee add a touch of formality to the comfortable sitting area.  Drenched in shades of teal blue and cream, this room has dark oak floors, plush Aubusson carpets, a large private bath and a cedar closet.

Decorated to reflect a bygone era, this room is painted in deep burgundy and cream to enhance the dark woods of the antique furniture and oak floors.  It features an high-headboard Queen bed, a marble-topped and mirrored dresser and a matching cabinet.  The hand-carved antique bed is covered in a floral tapestry with ivory crochet accents.  Large arched windows offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the Camellia gardens, which bloom in winter!  This room has a very large bath with a crystal chandelier and oversize soaking tub; it is the ideal spot to relax.

Pine Room
In the guest house.

Reminiscent of an old log cabin, this entire room is pine paneled, including the ceiling!  Large fieldstones were collected on the property to construct a huge wood-burning fireplace with a wide log mantle and stone hearth.  A wall-sized picture window gives you a view of Tryon Peak and White Oak Mountain.  The king-size bed is rustic and covered in a hand- stitched leaf design quilt with vine-and-leaf accessories.  The woodland motif is carried throughout for a camp cabin-like atmosphere.  A queen sofa, rocking chair, corner bookshelf and log coffee table are included in the spacious sitting area inside, while an adjoining deck offers a place for outdoor relaxation.  Mountain views with our compliments.

This very private room has lots of windows and views into the adjacent woods!  There is a shaded sitting area outside the front door, ideal for relaxing and a ficus tree inside to bring the garden indoors.  The room is painted a sunny yellow with white trim and Delft-blue floral accents.  A king-size bed of white-washed alder, cozy floral-tapestry love seat and accent pieces in pickled pine, maple and wicker provide you with a most comfortable sitting area.  And surprise, there is a “wet bar” with a refrigerator and microwave for preparing drinks and snacks tucked into the corner.  With woodland views it ’s just the perfect get-a-way spot!

Stone Cottage

Our very private one room cottage overlooks the flagstone picnic patio and is near the swimming pool.  The unique stacked stone exterior of this cottage is crowned with a terra cotta barrel-tile roof.  It has scenic mountain views from its many large windows.  The room has pine-paneled walls, hand-cut beams and a large fieldstone fireplace.  Along with a huge split log mantle and built-in bookshelves, this makes an impressive wall unit.  The room is decorated with denim, a bold red, white and blue plaid, and rhododendron floral accents.  A queen-size bed and comfy pillows on the loveseat facing the fireplace create your cozy-cabin environment.  Just like a cabin in the woods, this room’s lavatory is equipped with a corner shower stall.
